Sell Your Accountancy Practice in Liverpool

If your practice is in Liverpool or anywhere on Merseyside, you are on our home ground. We are the group behind four local firms, we know what a loyal Merseyside client base is worth, and we buy directly: no broker, no commission, no listing.

Liverpool's accountancy community is close-knit. Clients stay with their accountant for decades, referrals travel by word of mouth from the waterfront offices to the suburbs, and everyone knows everyone. That loyalty is exactly what makes a Liverpool practice valuable, and exactly what a careless sale destroys.

We are not a distant consolidator studying the city on a map. Stuart McBain Ltd has worked from Liverpool's waterfront since 2004, Craig Callum Associates serves the city from Bootle, Goddards Accountants sits in Knowsley and Keith Dodd Accountants in Southport. When each of them joined the group, their name stayed on the door and their team stayed in the room. Your practice would be treated the same way, because changing what clients recognise changes the client base, and that helps nobody.

Selling to us means dealing with the buyer from the first phone call. No broker's engagement letter, no commission clipped from your price, no anonymised advert describing your life's work as "a Merseyside block of fees". A quiet conversation in the city we both work in, and a straight answer about whether we are the right home.

Whether you are in the city centre, south Liverpool, Bootle and the north end, or anywhere else on Merseyside, tell us a little about your firm below. It goes to the directors only, and we reply within two working days.

Why sell to us

A direct buyer, not a broker

Your clients keep their accountant

No rebrand, no call centre, no "your account has moved". The firms we buy keep trading under their own name with the team clients already know.

Your staff keep their jobs

We buy practices because of the people in them. We support the existing team without overpowering the culture and values that make clients like the firm.

No broker, no commission

We are the buyer, not a middleman. Deal with us directly and there is no listing process, no sale fee and no percentage taken off your price.

Discretion, guaranteed

Nothing reaches your staff, clients or the local grapevine until you decide it should. Early conversations are just that: conversations.

Common questions

Questions sellers ask us

What is my Liverpool accountancy practice worth?

Published broker guides typically talk about 0.8x to 1.2x recurring annual fees for a typical practice, with well-run firms achieving more. Treat that as market context, not an offer: what your practice is worth depends on its fee base, its people and how it runs. Tell us about it and we will give you a straight, private view rather than a formula.

How do I keep the sale confidential from my staff and clients?

By keeping the circle small. With us there is no listing, no mailshot and no buyer database: your enquiry is read by the group's directors and nobody else, and nothing reaches your staff, clients or the local grapevine until you decide it should. In a city where accountants all know each other, that matters.

Do I need a broker to sell my practice?

No. A broker's job is to find you a buyer and manage a matching process, for a fee that is typically 1% to 5% or several thousand pounds fixed. If a credible local buyer is already at the table, that process and that cost disappear. You should still take your own legal and tax advice, and we would encourage it.

A few details are enough to start; share only what you're comfortable with. We reply personally within two working days, in complete confidence.

Who reads this?

Your enquiry goes directly to the group's directors and nobody else. It is never passed to member firm staff or discussed outside that circle.
